Was a ok set up for March . Dew point’s in the 50’s and high shear , but cape of 1250 . After getting of work at 3:30 I rushed home , checked data and saw the storms firing in north central Oklahoma . But the area of south west Oklahoma looked to be good play. So I picked up my Ride along for this trip ( Eric ) and hit the road. Stopped in Duncan to get top off and get data . After gassing up , saw a nice storm west of Lawton so we headed west on Hwy 7 til we found a nice spot on a hill 5 mile’s east of Lawton , stopped and took pic’s and waited . Watched a nice updraft , with off and on lowering. Thought it would be wise to move south , so we moved 1 mile south on a country road and meet a cool kid that let us set in his drive way . Watched a area to the North West of Lawton and saw a very brief Funnel drop half way to the ground , Eric did a very nice job getting it on video . Saw three large power flashes over Lawton , but was not able to get on video . ( still pissed ) . As the updraft passed over head we fell in beside an area of rotating scud on hwy 7 , stopped out side Duncan to try to get some picture’s when a County cop stopped and tried to be a hard ass . I have learned the word’s Storm Chaser and nighttime will scare a cop away .
Moved on to Marlow and watched the storm die. Nice night and got Eric ready for the fun of May !

 Day 1 Outllook from SPC
...CNTRL/ERN KS SSW INTO MUCH OF OK/NW TX LATE TODAY/TONIGHT...
DEEP FORCING FOR ASCENT AND MID LVL COOLING WILL REMAIN WEAK FROM
CNTRL KS SW ACROSS OK AND NW TX TODAY AS LEAD SPEED MAX/UPR VORT
LIFT NE INTO NEB/SD.  COUPLED WITH RELATIVELY LIMITED BOUNDARY LAYER
MOISTURE AND SUBSTANTIAL EML CAP ON S SIDE OF UPR JET...EXPECT
LITTLE IF ANY TSTM DEVELOPMENT TIL LATE IN THE DAY OVER OK AND NW
TX.  SCTD STORMS MAY...HOWEVER...CONTINUE TO DEVELOP SLOWLY SWD
   ALONG FRONT IN KS.

BY EARLY EVE...ASCENT WITH UPSTREAM JET DISTURBANCE SHOULD BEGIN TO
OVERSPREAD THE SRN PLNS AS COLD FRONT OVERTAKES PRE-FRONTAL
TROUGH/DRY LINE.  COMBINATION OF STRENGTHENING ASCENT WITH SLOWLY
INCREASING BOUNDARY LAYER MOISTURE /SFC DEWPOINTS IN THE UPR 50S TO
NEAR 60 F/ MAY SUPPORT INCREASED STORM COVERAGE/STRENGTH ALONG THE
FRONT IN KS...AND DEVELOPMENT OF OTHER STORMS SW ALONG FRONT OR DRY
   LINE INTO OK.

50+ KT DEEP SHEAR OVER REGION WILL BE ORIENTED AT A CONSIDERABLE
ANGLE TO THE FRONT.  GIVEN SUSTAINED UPDRAFTS...THIS SHOULD ALLOW
FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF ELONGATED SUPERCELL STRUCTURES WITH A GOOD
THREAT FOR LARGE HAIL AND HIGH WIND.  IN ADDITION...35-40 KT 0-1 KM
SHEAR WITH A SUBSTANTIAL DIRECTIONAL COMPONENT /ASSOCIATED WITH 60
KT SSWLY LOW LVL JET/...SUGGESTS POTENTIAL FOR STRONG TORNADOES.
