Comanche , Oklahoma
Morning outlook looked very good for storm formation in southern Oklahoma and north Texas . After work I ate a fast dinner and a quick call to a friend with E.O.C. . We both agree that my target of Duncan , Okla. was a good call . I reached Duncan around 7 pm to watch the first of three storm’s , but the storm quickly lost energy . Around dark I dropped south Hwy 81 to Comanche . I stopped at Loves to get a quick fill-up , when a off duty police officer told me that he saw a funnel south of town . I drove about 5 miles to a nice hill top to watch the last two cells in the line merge and pass by . Dropped in behind the cell and headed east on hwy 53 until I missed up and got on hwy 53A . Cost me about 20 minutes to get back. After being on 53 about 10 mile’s thing’s got wild. The temp went up and Ham and Scanner went to static , then boom . From what I can tell the car got hit by lightning , after a quick stop to check on the car and radio’s I was off again. Following the storm through Loco where I saw what I believe to be a funnel north of town . Then I went to Ratliff City , where I meet up with Wayne and Mike . After a little while ,I gave up and headed back to Sulphur .
